Our Story
Monseñor Oscar Romero Charter School (MORCS) opened in September 2007. MORCS is part of the YPICS family of schools. Monseñor Oscar Romero Charter School prepares students in grades 6-8 to be college and career ready, active citizens, and lifelong learners. Our school is located in Pico Union and serves students primarily from the Los Angeles area.

Our commitment is to engage students to become change agents so that they can contribute to their community as they grow and evolve as active citizens and lifelong learners. Monseñor Oscar Romero Charter School uses a learning model that promotes equity, with an emphasis on effective education and collaborative inquiry.
Our curriculum is research-based and includes programs that are implemented using effective instructional strategies. All members of the school community are engaged in our school and play significant roles; as students, parents, teachers and staff. Through high expectations, a rigorous curriculum, a personalized learning environment which is grounded in the culture of students, and family-school-community partnerships, the school assists students to overcome barriers and in turn empower them to succeed as learners.
