The 6th graders at MORCS are excited to start a food business! Their project (through Mr. Duran and Ms. McKinzie’s math class) is preparing them to think like entrepreneurs and design a food business the community needs. Students will plan a budget, design a logo, create a menu, and launch a website to advertise their new food businesses. Part of the planning phase was a community walk to observe the assets and deficits of the food community in the neighborhood. Students were able to identify all types of food businesses: restaurants, street vendors, food trucks, and a grocery store. It is exciting to hear their ideas for the food businesses they would like to see in the neighborhood. Entrepreneurs use math in the real world. Stay tuned to hear about the food business designs from our MORCS entrepreneurs!
